Deposits

Procedure for placing a deposit and adopting a puppy:

  1. Please fill out the puppy questionnaire. This helps us learn a little more about your family and what you are looking for in a Ridgeback.
  2. We will respond to your questionnaire and discuss your interest, which takes place through email so we have it for our records. We will also discuss which puppy(ies) you are interested in and which would be a good fit, also answering any questions you may have.
  3. You will then choose which puppy you would like to reserve. We have notes on each puppy's current personality and what we can tell of their energy level, and will help you choose which puppy would match.
  4. You then receive a copy of the contract/health guarantee to see and read ahead of time. We are transparent about every facet of the adoption process and want you to be comfortable and well informed of how we do things.
  5. We take deposits either through Zelle or PayPal, at your choice. Zelle can be sent directly to us; for PayPal I send an invoice to your email address, payable with or without a PayPal account through the link.
  6. The puppy is now reserved for you and you will receive a PDF written receipt with all of the puppy's details along with an in-depth puppy packet.
  7. I send milestone updates directly to you weekly along with photos every other week to show their growth and progress.
  8. Final payment may be made as cash in person at the time the puppy is picked up or by PayPal at least 3 days prior to us meeting you with the puppy. Please note that it may take  up to 3 business days for a PayPal payment to clear and you  will not be able to take your puppy home until it goes through. This is why we do not accept PayPal in person. Cash is the only payment option we accept for final payments made in person.
  9. Puppies can be picked up starting between 9-10 weeks of age. Puppies can be shipped with the airline beginning at 10 weeks of age. For pickup, we will meet with you locally and bring a blanket for the puppy, some familiar treats/toys, and health records, continued vaccination schedule, feeding schedule, and recommendations for care, along with a copy of the finalized contract/health guarantee.
  10. For those picking up from us, the contract will be signed in person, for those out of state, we can do a digital signature prior to the flight.
  11. We are not accepting visitors to our home any longer due to the spread of canine communicable disease and past issues with people coming to the house when we're not home. We're not a kennel facility or brick and mortar business and unfortunately have had to change our policies regarding pickup and visiting. Please view our policy page for further information.

What is a Non-Refundable Deposit?

Deposits are used to guarantee that your puppy will be reserved for you until they are ready to leave us and go to their new home. The deposit signifies you are making a commitment to bringing the puppy home when ready. The deposits are non-refundable if you change your mind or are otherwise unable to follow through with bringing the puppy home. You may, however, transfer your deposit to another litter within 12 months of the date the deposit was placed. This allows you to not lose your deposit amount if something happens where you are unable to get your puppy. Also, if something happens where your puppy is not available due to an unfortunate circumstance on our end, we will refund your deposit 100%.

Deposit & Payment Information:

$500, applied toward the purchase price of an individual puppy, will  be paid as a deposit to hold the puppy for you until we designate the puppy is ready to be re-homed, a specified "available date" between 9 and 10 weeks old (stated on the litter page). We do not hold puppies for individuals without deposits being placed.  Inquiries come in at various times and a puppy that is available one day could be spoken for the same or next day.

GENERAL INFORMATION We begin taking deposits on a litter once we have taken photos of the puppies individually and have uploaded the photos to our website (usually between 1-3 weeks of age depending on our current family schedules). We take photos at this time, then every other week and also provide weekly milestone updates via email as they grow. All photos and updates of your puppy will be sent directly to you to your email address.

Puppies can generally start going to new homes at the 9th week of age (10 weeks  if shipped). The exact transfer dates will be determined by us as the  breeder as the health and safety of the puppies is our first priority.

PAYMENT METHODS For deposits we accept all payment forms accepted through PayPal as well as Zelle. You can now pay by invoice with PayPal even if you do not own a registered PayPal account. You will receive a receipt from PayPal as well as a signed receipt from us. We are no longer able to take personal or business checks for any part of the transaction due to unfortunate past issues with fraudulent checks and the time it can take them to clear.

Please allow us to send you a custom invoice through PayPal before you attempt to place your deposit. The invoice will have all of the puppy and litter information,  balance remaining, and other details of the specific transaction.

Once a deposit is received you will receive a signed deposit receipt through email.

FINAL PAYMENT The balance remaining may be paid by cash at the time of pickup in person, or via PayPal at least 3 days prior to pickup or prior to the shipping date. Please note that it may take up to 3 business days for a PayPal payment to clear and you  will not be able to take your puppy home until it goes through. This is why we do not accept PayPal in person. Cash is the only payment form we accept for final payment made in person. All payments must clear before the puppy is transferred to the buyer, including any necessary shipping and/or  holding fees.

HOLDING  We gladly hold puppies longer if we are requested to do so. Please make these arrangements as early as possible, preferably when the deposit is placed. We hold them at no charge through the 10th week. Beginning the day the puppies turn 11 weeks old, a charge of $10 a day will be added to the balance owed for vaccinations, food, and boarding. We do feel it is in the best interest of the puppy to be in their new homes by this age because they need the bonding and socializing of their new home and this is the ideal time for bonding with the beginning of more formal training.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • This deposit signifies the intent on the part of the Buyer to complete purchase of the puppy and should be thoughtfully considered beforehand. This is a dedication  for the lifetime of the dog and is an important commitment which we do not  wish anyone to rush into. If circumstances arise where the Buyer is  unable to complete purchase  or decides not to complete purchase for any reason, the deposit amount may be transferred to another litter within 12 months of the date the deposit was placed, but no refund will be issued. There are no refunds on deposits with the following exceptions: unless the puppy becomes unavailable due to an unforeseen circumstance or the Seller exerts their right to void the transaction. In this case the deposit will be refunded 100%.

  • The  puppy is not owned by the Buyer until payment is completed in full, the purchase contract has been signed, and the puppy is physically transferred to the Buyer. Until all of this is completed, the Seller  reserves the right to void this transaction for any reason at any time and refund the entire deposit.

  • We  strive to provide loving forever homes to every puppy we  produce and  by adopting a puppy from us you are making a  commitment for the  lifetime of the puppy. If unfortunate circumstances  arise where you are  unable to  care for your puppy or choose to find your puppy a new home,  we hope you  will contact us in assisting with new placement. However,  we do  not "buy puppies back" from their forever homes. The deposit and purchase of a puppy signifies an agreement that you will care for the  puppy for the extent of their life and is a big commitment that  should  be considered before bringing them home.   Please contact us at any point in the puppy's lifetime for aid in finding a new home if this situation should arise.

  • We  reserve the right to hold a puppy longer for any  reason if we feel it  is in the puppy's best interest. If we decide a  puppy should  be held  longer, no further holding charges or fees will be incurred.

We  raise our dogs and puppies out of our home and are not a kennel  facility. We do not allow visitors to our home any longer  due to the  spread of canine communicable disease, and issues with people coming when we're not at home. The puppies will be  picked up  locally at a designated meeting spot when ready to go to new homes unless shipping via the airline.
